Manchester Open 2020 : POSTPONED

The 2020 Manchester Open was scheduled to be a Women’s and Men’s PSA Silver event, running from 6th to 10th May at the National Squash Centre, offering a $78,000 prize fund in each draw.

The extension of the PSA Tour suspension to the end of June means that the event is postponed.

PSA Statement

The 2020 Manchester Open – originally scheduled for May 6-10 – has been postponed following today’s confirmation from the PSA that the suspension of the PSA World Tour due to the global outbreak of COVID-19 has been extended until August.

Tournament organisers, the PSA and Manchester City Council all agree that given the health and safety concerns during this global pandemic, it is in the best interests of all players, tournament staff and spectators that the tournament be postponed from its original dates and all parties will work together to stage the tournament in the latter half of 2020.

“Following the successful staging of the inaugural Manchester Open last year, we were excited to welcome the world’s top male players to compete alongside their female counterparts this year, but we have made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s event,” said Tournament Director Tim Garner.

“At a time like this, the priority has to be the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in staging the tournaments. We will work closely with PSA and Manchester City Council over the coming weeks to find a suitable date to ensure that the Manchester Open takes place later in 2020.”
