The Manchester Open 2025 returns to the PSA Squash Tour calendar at the end of March with action taking place from 2-6 April at the National Squash Centre based at the impressive Etihad Campus. 48 players will compete across the week in the Bronze level event, a tournament which is always well attended by all North West squash fans and a favourite for the PSA Foundation to introduce hundreds of juniors to squash.
Activities such as playing on interactive front walls, playing on the side courts at the centre, using the squash nets and much more have been a permanent feature of the Manchester Open over the years and with the help of local volunteers, coaches and schools have introduced thousands of school children to the game of squash since the Manchester Open’s inaugural event in 2019.
This year, a record number of children will take part in the activities at the event on quarter finals day. Activation will run from Wednesday 2nd – Friday 4th with the Friday hosting over 250 kids. Schools will take advantage of the National Squash Centre facilities to introduce children to squash by playing the sport itself and will also be given the opportunity to watch the professionals in action on the all-glass court.
The children will get the chance to watch the likes of the tournament’s top seeded woman and British No.1 Georgina Kennedy, Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist Declan James and up and coming star Jonah Bryant. All of which started squash at a young age and would have been inspired to turn professional from watching the best in the world when they were juniors. The likes of Kennedy, James and Bryant can act as inspirational figures for the next generation.
A Manchester Open youth club/school visit includes a 30 minutes playing squash in the activation area, 30 minutes playing on the full size squash courts, 30 minutes in the stands watching the professionals and a potential meet and greet opportunity with a professional player depending on availability.
The PSA Foundation would like to invite any media personal who wish to learn more about the events to get in touch via email.
